How to migrate from Elementor to Akram without rebuilding your pages

Switching builders used to mean rebuilding every page. Akram converts Elementor pages for you and leaves the originals untouched, so you can move at your own pace.

The scariest part of changing page builders is the rebuild. Fifty pages, each with its own layout, all to be recreated by hand.

Akram avoids that. Its migration tool reads the Elementor data stored with each page and builds an equivalent Akram page. Your original Elementor data stays exactly as it was.

Before you start

  • Back up your site. The migration doesn’t change Elementor data, but a backup is always the right first step.
  • Use a staging copy if you have one. Most hosts offer one-click staging.
  • Keep Elementor active during the migration. Akram and Elementor can run side by side.
  • Check your add-ons. If you rely on widgets from third-party Elementor add-ons, note which pages use them. Those widgets won’t convert automatically.

Step 1: install Akram

Install Akram from Plugins → Add New Plugin and activate it. You’ll see a banner on the Akram dashboard offering to migrate your Elementor pages.

Step 2: set up your design system first

Open Akram → Design System and set your brand colors and fonts. The migration maps Elementor’s global colors (primary, secondary, text and accent) to Akram’s design system, so converted pages pick up the right colors straight away.

Step 3: convert your pages

Go to Akram → Tools → Migrate from Elementor. You’ll see a list of every page and post built with Elementor.

  1. Start with one simple page to see how the result looks.
  2. Select it and click Convert.
  3. Open the converted page in the Akram editor and compare it with the original.

When you’re happy with the result, select the rest of your pages and convert them in one batch.

What converts automatically

The migration handles the structure and the most common widgets:

  • Layout: sections, columns and containers, including direction, gaps, alignment and content width.
  • Spacing: padding and margin for every device, so tablet and mobile adjustments come along.
  • Widgets (33 types): heading, text editor, image, button, icon, icon box, image box, icon list, divider, spacer, video, counter, progress bar, star rating, testimonial, alert, tabs, accordion, toggle, call to action, price table, social icons, form, posts, nav menu, site logo, post title, post content, menu anchor, HTML and shortcode.
  • Icons: common Font Awesome icons are mapped to Akram’s built-in SVG icons, and brand icons to their equivalents.
  • Global colors from your Elementor kit.

What to check by hand

  • Unsupported widgets. If a widget can’t be converted, Akram puts a clearly labeled note in its place on the page, such as “Elementor widget ‘slides’ could not be converted automatically.” Replace it with the closest Akram widget. There are 127 to choose from.
  • Custom CSS. Element-level custom CSS isn’t converted. Give the element a CSS class in Akram’s Advanced tab and add the styles in Appearance → Customize → Additional CSS.
  • Elementor Pro theme templates. Rebuild your header and footer in Akram → Theme Builder. It takes a few minutes and you’ll only do it once.
  • Popups and forms. Recreate popups in Akram → Popups. Form fields convert, but check the email settings under Actions after submit.

Step 4: publish and compare

Publish the converted page. From that moment, the page stops loading Elementor’s files, even while Elementor is still active for your other pages. Run the old and new versions through PageSpeed Insights and compare.

How to roll back

Because the original Elementor data is kept, rolling back is simple: open the page with Elementor again and update it. You can move one page at a time, keep some pages on Elementor for as long as you like, and deactivate Elementor only when nothing uses it anymore.

A migration checklist

  1. Back up and use staging.
  2. Install Akram and set the design system.
  3. Convert one page, compare, adjust.
  4. Convert the rest in a batch.
  5. Replace any flagged widgets.
  6. Rebuild header, footer and popups in Akram.
  7. Check forms send email.
  8. Publish, then test on a phone.
  9. Deactivate Elementor when no page needs it.

Most small sites finish in an afternoon. Larger sites can migrate section by section over a few weeks, with visitors never seeing a broken page.
