Getting started with Akram
Everything you need to build your first page and your whole site. Short, practical, and kept up to date with each release.
Getting started
After activating Akram you’ll find a Akram item in the admin menu. The dashboard shows your recent pages, website kits and system status.
- Click New page in the dashboard, or Edit with Akram on any page or post.
- Drag widgets from the left panel onto the canvas.
- Click an element to edit it. Settings open on the right in three tabs: Content, Style and Advanced.
- Click Publish. Akram renders the page and it’s live.
Prefer a head start? Pick one of the 12 website kits from the dashboard and Akram creates the pages for you.
Editor basics
The editor has three areas: the rail on the left (add elements, layers, templates, design, page settings, history), the canvas in the middle, and the inspector on the right.
- Switch devices from the top bar. Values you set on a smaller device only apply to that device and below.
- Use the Layers panel to select nested elements or drag them into a new order.
- Press Ctrl K for the command palette and ? for all shortcuts.
- Right-click any element to copy, paste styles, duplicate, save as template or delete.
Design system
Open Akram → Design System or the palette icon in the editor. Set your primary, secondary and accent colors, text and surface colors, and the heading and body fonts.
Every widget and template uses these values. Change the primary color once and every button, link and highlight updates across the site. Google Fonts are downloaded to your server automatically.
Theme builder
Go to Akram → Theme Builder and create a header, footer, single, archive, search or 404 template. Each template has display conditions: include it on the entire site, specific post types, categories or single pages, and exclude it anywhere you like.
When a template matches, it replaces the theme’s own part. When none matches, your theme takes over as usual.
Popups
Create a popup from Akram → Popups. In the editor, open Popup settings to choose the layout (modal, slide-in, bar or panel), the trigger and the frequency. To open a popup from any button, choose the Open popup link action or link to #nx-popup-ID.
Forms and submissions
Add the Form widget, then add fields in the Content tab. In Actions after submit, choose email, auto-reply, webhook or Mailchimp. Every entry is saved under Akram → Submissions, where you can search, star, mark as read and export to CSV.
Spam protection (honeypot, timing and rate limit) is on by default. Add reCAPTCHA v3 or Cloudflare Turnstile keys in Akram → Settings → Integrations and use Test connection to check them.
Migrating from Elementor
Open Akram → Tools → Migrate from Elementor. Select pages and click Convert. Akram reads the Elementor data, builds an Akram page and keeps the original untouched. Read the full migration guide for details and tips.
WP-CLI
Akram registers a wp akram command:
wp akram status # builder status and counts
wp akram css # rewrite every CSS file from stored styles
wp akram export kit.json # export globals, templates and pages
wp akram flush # purge page caches
Troubleshooting
- Styles look outdated after a migration or restore. Run
wp akram cssor open Akram → Tools and rebuild your pages. - A caching plugin shows an old page. Publishing purges common caches automatically; run
wp akram flushif yours isn’t supported. - Form emails don’t arrive. WordPress needs a working mail setup. Use an SMTP plugin and check the Submissions inbox, which keeps every entry even when email fails.
